Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy helps to restore movement and funciton to as near normal as possible when someone is affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability.
As a healthcare profession, physiotherapy's science foundation covers a broad and varied range of work which involves working with people to promote their own health and well being.
A Physiotherapist is able to provide a diagnosis of your injury or condition. This will give you a greater understanding of the severity of your condition and the best treatment options that are avalable to you.
At Renew, we treat a wide range of injuries and conditions. We also have close links with many of Trinidad's Family Practitioners, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Neurologists and Sports Physicians.
Your Physiotherapy visit
At Renew our Physiotherapy Treatment sessions are 60 minutes long and involve a detailed initial assessment to correctly identify the cause of the problem.
On your first visit you will be fully evaluated by one of our registered Physiotherapists. This will involve us taking a recent history of your current complaint and any other relevant past medical history. A physical examination will be done of the problem area and measurements will be taken. Based on our findings, a diagnosis will be formulated and discussed with you in detail, after which a treatment plan will be developed and explained.
Your Physiotherapist will estimate how quickly you should be able to return to your normal routine, be it work, sport, exercise or just to be pain free once again.
Treatment options
Treatment options will be discussed with you and may include a variety of hands-on therapy options, including joint mobilizations, therapeutic exercise, electrotherapy, postural retraining and advice and education. You may also be referred to our on-site Massage Therapists to complement our treatments and help speed up your recovery. As you come to the end of your time with us, you may also start with our Exercise Physiologist to complete your rehabilitation with us at Renew.
